Trump's "preferred" list for Iran's leader includes three candidates.


US President Donald Trump has a shortlist of candidates to lead Iran. His 'very favorite' list includes three names.

Trump said this on Sunday. The United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday morning to overthrow the current religious leadership of Iran.

The attack killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who led Iran for 36 years. In addition, several top Iranian officials were killed in the attack.

US President Trump claimed yesterday that 48 top leaders of the country were killed in the attack in Iran.

According to reports published by Iranian state media yesterday, in addition to Khamenei, his daughter, son-in-law and grandson were killed in the attack.

The top Iranian officials killed include Khamenei's security adviser Ali Shamkhani, Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Abdul Rahim Mousavi, Defense Minister Aziz Nasserzadeh and Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Chief Mohammad Pakpour.

Yesterday, Trump also said that Iran's new leadership wanted to talk to the US administration. He agreed to it.

Trump told The New York Times that he had three very good names for who could lead Iran.

However, Trump did not reveal the three names. In this regard, he said, "I'm not going to reveal the names right now. Let the work be done first."

Trump had previously mentioned that the attack in Iran was aimed at changing the country's government. He is indicating that the assassination of top Iranian officials, including Khamenei, by carrying out specific attacks.

However, analysts believe that it will not be that easy.
