Big jump in gold and silver prices in the domestic market

In the context of the price increase in the international market, there has been a major increase in the prices of gold and silver in the domestic market. After two consecutive declines, the price of gold has increased by 3,266 taka per bhori. This is the first time that a good quality gold bhori has crossed 2 lakh 58 thousand taka.

In a notification on Saturday (February 21) morning, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced the new price determination. This new price list has been implemented across the country from 10:15 am today.

According to BAJUS, the new price of gold by quality is as follows:

22 carat: The price of gold per bhori (11.664 grams) will be 2 lakh 58 thousand 824 taka.

Acidic gold: BAJUS said that this adjustment has been made mainly due to the increase in the price of acid or pure gold in the local market.

Along with gold, the price of silver has also increased in line with it. The new price of a 22-carat bhori has been fixed at 6,707 taka, increasing by 350 taka per bhori. This new price of silver has also come into effect from this morning.

Concerned people say that the prices of these two precious metals have started rising again due to instability in the global market and local supply shortage. It is believed that such a price increase in wedding shopping during this winter season will put additional pressure on ordinary buyers.
